What is a Volunteer?

A volunteer is someone who performs or offers to perform
a service out of his own free will, often without payment.

During 2007, over 300 C.O.P.S. Volunteers contributed 40,235 volunteer hours to help Spokane be a safer place to raise our families and welcome guests to our part of this great country.  We invite you to be a part of this quality group of citizens!

Becoming a C.O.P.S. Volunteer is a great opportunity to meet new friends, participate in special events, and for gaining knowledge and experience while making a valuable contribution to your community.

Your gift of time and talents are needed to keep our doors open and maintain the tradition of neighbor-helping-neighbor that has given Spokane's unique approach to community policing worldwide recognition.  Make this year the year that you pledge to take a little time out to fight crime!

You may download an actual hard copy of the applications listed below by clicking the ".pdf version" link of the brochure image below.  You may also obtain applications from your local C.O.P.S. Substation.  Once you've filled out your application, please return it to your C.O.P.S. Substation where an officer will then run a criminal background check.  The Volunteer Coordinator from your Substation will call you as to the approval status of your application.
