About Us

C.O.P.S. Mission Avenue is Spokane C.O.P.S. 13th shop, the first of it's kind in the nation located within a community college environment!  The grand opening of Mission Avenue C.O.P.S. was March 5, 2008.

Invited Speakers were:

Governor Christine Gregoire, Mayor Mary Verner, City Council President Joe Shogan, SPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, DOC Secretary Eldon Vail, C.O.P.S. Director Christy Hamilton, C.O.P.S. Board of Directors members Katie Reynolds and Jack Brucick, SCC Vice-President Student and Instruction Services Dr. Teri McKenzie.

Spokane C.O.P.S., Spokane Police Department, Washington State Department of Corrections, and the Community Colleges of Spokane have entered into a collaborative agreement to the Mission Avenue C.O.P.S. substation on the Spokane Community College campus.  Mission Avenue C.O.P.S. substation is located at Spokane Community College, 1810 North Greene St., Building #1, Room 149.

This substation will serve Chief Garry Neighborhood, as well as the Minnehaha Neighborhood area.  Greg Hecht, Director of the Office of Neighborhood Services, says his office is “thrilled to work towards this end that would certainly be of a great benefit to Chief Garry Park and Minnehaha.  The neighborhoods have wanted this for a long time.”

Our shop currently has 9 community and student volunteers that work at the shop or are responsible for one or more of our programs.

C.O.P.S. Mission Avenue geographic area is Garnet St. and Market/Greene north of the Spokane River and east of the river at Trent to Center Road.
