When a citizen has their car
broken into while out shopping or during the night, they call the
Crime Check
to report it. If there is no suspect, a copy of this report is sent to the
nearest substation of the victim.
Information is sent to each shop so
volunteers may call the victim and offer further assistance. Volunteers
have the opportunity to answer questions for the citizen.
Typically, they may respond
to the question, "why hasn't a police officer ever come out?" Volunteers
remind victims of their incident report number so they can reference it if they
call in any additional information to the
Crime Check at a later
time.
Stop by your
local C.O.P.S.
Substation for information about decreasing your risk of becoming a victim of a
car break-in.
